Working as a freelance Illustrator and Art Director for indie film has spread my understanding of narrative design across all my work. I enjoy pursuing further narrative work and illustration projects for indie film, storyboard art, commercial artwork, private commissions, and through selling my own artwork and prints. storyboard artist

Having studied storyboarding for live action film during my university course, I began taking freelance illustration work as soon as I graduated. This work involves visualising structure, style, and narrative movement of the film, liaising with directors and sometimes directors of photography. Often whilst working on independent films as an art
director, I will offer to storyboard the project as well, as this can bring
valuable insight to both roles.

art direction for film

Since beginning my studies at NTU in design for film and TV, I began work placements in film and TV art departments. In my second year, I began tackling projects on my own, beginning with art direction for a music video for Nottingham musician Jimi Mack. Since then I have worked with short film and indie directors to help create their passion projects. Several of these films have won multiple awards at domestic and international film festivals, including bafta and Oscar qualifiers. In 2022 my work on Shunk Film’s short Hollow was
nominated for best production design at Luminous Frames International Film Festival in Denmark.

My work on set includes organisation and budgeting, prop making and sourcing, pre-vis and concept planning, set dressing and painting, and
on a few occasions organising
a small art team.

commissioned illustrator

A good deal of my graphic design work relies on my illustration skills, and my ability to adapt to different styles and marketing intent. In this way I am able to easily create original artwork for a number of projects for smaller clients, without having to worry about a lack of resources.

I also produce private commissions, custom artwork to accompany other design elements, and concept art for short film projects and project
treatments.
